What Are Attachment Styles?Īccording to Levine and Heller, everyone has an attachment system-a mechanism in your brain that compels you to seek, monitor, and maintain intimacy with a chosen partner. Along the way, we’ll examine how Levine and Heller’s ideas compare with recent research on attachment styles and include recommendations from other experts on practical ways to improve your relationship. Finally, you’ll learn how to adopt the behaviors of the secure attachment style and use them to make your relationships more fulfilling. Then, you’ll discover the problems that can arise if your intimacy needs clash with your partner’s and how to handle it when they do. In this guide, you’ll first learn how humans generally relate to romantic partners: What are secure and insecure attachment styles, and why do they matter? You’ll then learn more about the three attachment styles, and what your attachment style indicates you need from a relationship. In Attached, psychiatrist Amir Levine and psychologist Rachel Heller contend that many of our relationship issues stem from differences in how we perceive and express intimacy-and that, by understanding this, we can achieve greater harmony in our relationships. 1-Page Summary 1-Page Book Summary of Attached Throughout the movie, she tries to figure out a way for her family to stay, but it doesn't work out. Of course this is yet ANOTHER book I need to read! Lol. In fact, I have a book by Karen Horney, titled "Feminine Psychology", sitting on one of my shelves. This must have something to do with the female psyche, and I don't mean to put down my own gender in saying this. Once again, in fiction as in real life, we have the case of a woman - and an intelligent, totally capable one, at that - falling for the wrong guy. "Far from the Madding Crowd" is another of those books (of which there are LOTS) that I've been wanting to read for the longest time. I really need to re-read it, so that I can write a review for my literary fiction blog. In fact, I would call it a feminist novel, as it attacks "the double standard" in romantic relationships, and thus, the whole basis of the patriarchy. That novel alone made Hardy one of my favorite authors! Since I know that you, too, have read it, you know how powerful a work that is. I have only read one of Hardy's novels - "Tess of the D'Urbervilles". Clarke, was considered to be one of the "Big Three" science-fiction writers during his lifetime. What I liked:The quirky main character and her wise-cracking ghostly sidekick really stole the show. Throw in a ghost, a psychic best friend and a smoking-hot mysterious man, and I’m sold! Plus the hot pink pickup truck on the cover really caught my eye. Why I picked this book up: I love cozy mysteries, especially if they’re set in the South. In honor of Sunday – a day I reserve for reading and lollygagging – I bring you a short and sweet book review! I found that the chapters on different aspects allowed me to dip in and out of the book, allowing me to focus my reading on aspects that appealed more to my interests, rather than having to read large sections at a time. It also looked briefly into things like structure and how it might vary at different temperatures by explaining the significance to real life people’s experiences. There are also interesting stories where unexpected things had occurred, the primary example being the “disappearing spoon” in the book’s title. This book has a variety of stories concerning how the periodic table had affected people as its different elements were discovered. Looking through these books became tedious quite quickly as they provided me with little information that I hadn’t already been given in science lessons at school. As much as the periodic table’s elements are an interesting and essential part of chemistry, I found that these books were not what I was looking for. When I went looking for books on the subject of chemistry, all the books I found initially were all based on the periodic table with the pages listing the elements and their properties. |
